Kaiwaka Wastewater Renewals (SH1/Oneriri Road)
Fusion Civil carried out the wastewater renewals across the bridge and over the Kaiwaka river. This project had multiple obstacles we had to overcome with many health & safety risks that required extra time & consideration to ensure our team and the public were safe. The existing pipe bridge that ran over the river was prone to damage during storms and bad weather due the level it was sitting at. We were tasked with diverting the main with new P.E pipework as well as installing manholes to achieve the new heights/level required to cross the SH1 bridge. With new structural beams holding the pipe work to secure it and prevent damage from the weather, a crane was required to lower the pipework in place. We connected to the pump station on the North side of the bridge whilst installing a new pump station on the southside to accommodate the properties and businesses adjacent to the bridge. Our team carried out the reinstatement to SH1 and over the course of this project worked predominantly on night shifts due to this being a requirement when working on SH1.
Ruakaka Emergency Wastewater Pipe Bursting Project
After previous attempts from the client of fixing/repairing the damaged and blocked pipes and given that the old concrete pipes had come to the end of their life span we were called in to carry out a full upgrade on this pipeline network. Fusion Civil carried out the pipe bursting upgrade of the old 225mm concrete pipework, replacing it with new 300mm restraint pipe to help with the volume of wastewater in the Ruakaka community. As the excavations on this project reached upto 5 metres in depth, which was below the water table we had a real battle on our hands. With trench shoring in place to keep the sand out and with many dewatering units to help keep our holes dry, the job was a success. Health and Safety was paramount for this project due to the depth and geological land. After the completion of this project we were required to carry out two more upgrades on further lines that had deteriorated, this included 100mtrs of another 300mm restraint PVC pipe and the other line being that of 120mtrs of 450mm PE.
Waitangi Toilet Block Drainage - Pipe Bursting
With a new toilet block being built to accommodate the many users of the Waitangi Boat Ramp area, Fusion Civil was asked to carry out the upgrade on the sanitary sewer mains. Using the Trenchless Technology method ‘Pipe Bursting’ we bursted 2 of the old concrete pipe lines and replaced them with new restraint PVC to help with the wastewater flow.Fusion Civil also installed a new water main and power ducts to the toilet block building. To promote public safety and reduce health risks it was our top priority to maintain the separation of the sewer lines and the water main lines, which is crucial for preventing contamination of drinking water and any potential damaging environmental impacts. Ensuring every step of the way that our health and safety protocols were monitored and kept to a high standard. Fusion Civil was welcomed by local Iwi and we had assistance supplied to us from an archaeologist for cultural monitoring purposes throughout the project.
